Sam Zanders Jr. was hired as the Head of Strength and Conditioning at Wesleyan College in October of 2018. After accepting the position Zanders had this to say, "It's a pleasure and an honor to be a part of Wesleyan Athletics; a part of the wolf pack, helping to create a winning culture and taking Wesleyan athletics and performance to the next level."
In addition to his duties at Wesleyan Zanders is the State Director for the National Association of Speed and Explosion (May 2018-Present) where he is one of 35 directors from major university programs in the US, Canada and Japan. He is also the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Academy for Classical Education (March 2018-Present) where the softball team made the 2018 state playoffs and a sweet 16 appearance while the Womens Cross Country Team was the state runner-up during the same year.
Coach Zanders has also worked as an exercise physiologist for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia (2015-2016), and a strength and conditioning coach for Telfair Co. Athletics (2013-2015) where they had multiple winning programs on both the middle school & high school levels. He still serves as sports performance professional, consulting for multiple winning programs, national caliber olympic weightlifters, and NCAA Division I athletes.
Zanders graduated from Mercer University with a BA in Psychology, a BS in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. He would go on an MS Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention, as well as a Post-Masters (Grad)-Rehabilitation Science from California University of Pennsylvania.
