"Samms, Rodriguez Point Up in Season Opening Show"

Clemson, SC - The Wesleyan College Western IHSA team opened their season this weekend at Clemson University with successful rides across the board for both returning and new team members.

The morning show began with newcomers Cassity Boothe and Meagan Giannetti delivering clean rides to earn fifth and second place finishes in their respective divisions. Team captain Caroline Thompson followed those up with a third place finish in the Intermediate 2 division, while seniors Maria Rodriguez and Ashaunti Samms finished out the morning with second and third place finishes in their Intermediate 1 division. Team co-captain Ashaunti Samms' third place finish earned her enough points to move into the Intermediate 2 division for the afternoon show.

The afternoon show began with a fifth place finish for newcomer Cassity Boothe, which was followed up with a third place finish for Ashaunti Samms in the Intermediate 2 division. Caroline Thompson and Meagan Giannetti took home fifth and sixth place, respectively, in a large Intermediate 2 class, while senior Maria Rodriguez finished out the day with a second place finish in the Intermediate 1 division. Rodriguez earned enough points to move into the Intermediate 2 division for the upcoming show at Lander University.

"Having two riders point up into new divisions at the season opener is always a great way to start off the show season,"" remarked Wesleyan head coach Jessica Denniston. ""All of our riders put in good, clean rides, which makes me really excited about this year and this team's potential. We have a great group of new riders and wonderful returning riders so we are ready for a successful show season."
