Wesleyan Hunt Seat Team Opens Season at GSU

Statesboro, GA - The Wesleyan College Hunt Seat team opened the fall show season at Georgia Southern University this past Saturday with many strong rides.

The day got off to a fast start with newcomer Ashlee Slack and senior Caroline Thompson earning second and third place, respectively, in the Advanced walk/trot/canter division, while senior Ashaunti Samms took home a sixth place finish in the same division. Sophomore Anna Latimer finished with a fifth place ribbon in the Beginner walk/trot/canter division.

Wesleyan freshmen Catherenne Hogeland, Cassity Boothe and Meagan Giannetti made their collegiate riding debut this weekend, while newcomer Yuting Bai competed at her first ever horse show, earning a reserve finish in the Walk/Trot division.

"All of our riders have been working very hard to prepare for this show season and it really paid off in the show arena this past weekend,"" commented head coach Jessica Meagher. ""Our returning riders have continued to make improvements in their riding and many of our newcomers have made huge adjustments to prepare for IHSA competition. I am very excited to continue to work with such a great group of riders as we prepare for the rest of the show season."

The hunt seat team travels to the University of South Carolina for their next show the weekend of October 15-16.
