Wolves Hunt Seat Team Competes at Lander

"

Greenwood, SC - The Wesleyan College Equestrian Hunt Seat team competed at Lander University over President's Day weekend, and despite poor weather and tough riding conditions, the Wolves managed to pull off clean rides with decent placings amongst talented company.

Senior Ashaunti Samms rode to a personal best finish in the Novice flat division with a fifth place performance, while freshmen Catherenne Hogeland and Ashlee Slack rounded out the day in the Advanced walk/trot/canter division with fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively.

"It was a tough show day for our team, but it just goes to show that when the going gets tough, the tough get going, and the hard work in the practice arena pays off on days like today. While we didn't get all of the points and ribbons that we had hoped for, I think that our riders learned several lessons during the show and will be able to put those into practice at our next show," remarked Wesleyan head coach Jessica Denniston.

The Wolves will wrap up the spring season at College of Charleston on March 4, and on March 5, seniors Caroline Thompson and Ashaunti Samms will compete at hunt seat regionals.
