Zone 5 Region 3 Hunter Seat Finals - Lander University SC
Alison Stroud (So) and Catherenne Hogeland (Jr) earned the honor to compete at the IHSA Zone 5 Region 3 Hunt Seat Finals at Lander University in South Carolina on Saturday, 2 March 2019. A rider is assigned to a division based on skill and experience and earn points at shows through out the year. After earning enough points they move up to the next division and qualify to compete at Regionals with the other riders qualified through the year. We have 13 colleges in our region.0
Alison Stroud was one of 6 riders in our region to qualify in W/T Hunter Seat Equitation. Alison drew Captain for her ride and did a super job in tough competition earning 5th place. Alison is in the TOP 5 riders at her level from 13 colleges.
Catherenne was one of 10 riders in our region to qualify for Advanced W/T/C Hunter Seat Equitation. With 10 riders to judge fairly they split them into two groups and then called back the top 6 riders. Caty drew Tilly for her ride and despite Tilly's petite size they put in a good effort in their class. Caty did not make it into the final 6. Caty is in the TOP 10 riders at her level.

Zone 5 Region 3 & 5 Western Finals
Catherenne Hogeland (Jr) earned the honor to compete at the IHSA Zone 5 Region 3 & 5 Western Finals at University of North Florida on Sunday, 3 March 2019. Caty was one of 15 riders qualified for Intermediate II Western Horsemanship in Region 3 and 5 combined. The riders were split into two groups with the top 8 returning for the final. Caty was in the first group to ride on Bo. They competed on the rail and then did individual patterns. Caty and Bo were spot on and made no mistakes. Caty was called back for the final 8 riders and drew Nick. The final 8 riders competed on the rail and rode the pattern on their new horse. Caty did well on Nick and earned 3rd place. This puts Caty in the TOP 3 riders at her level from riders in two regions.
"Wesleyan College equestrian Team is proud of all the riders this year for their hard work and accomplishments. Alison and Caty had amazing rides to qualify for Region Finals and both came home with top placings. Very proud of what this team has accomplished this year and look forward to all they will do in the future.
