Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College Equestrian Team was in action at Georgia Southern University for the first IHSA Horse Show for 2023 on Feb 4th, and 5th at Evermore Farm in Brooklet, GA and brought home a plethora of ribbons. On Saturday Nieve Leyne (FR) and Wesleyan's BIG RED placed 2nd in class 3d, while Georgia Comer (SO) placed 2nd in class 2Ba on QUE from GSU. Emily Evans (JR) pointed up with her 3rd place on QUE in class 1b and qualified for the Z5R3 Regionals that will be held March 5, 2023 in Aiken, SC. Wren Lawrence (FR) placed 6th in class 1b riding KING from GSU in her first IHSA horse show. On Sunday Nieve Leyne (FR) earned her first IHSA win riding Wesleyan's NOVA to earn the blue ribbon in class 3b. Coach Catherine Texter Baker finished 3rd in the alumni class riding SCOUT from USC. The Wesleyan College Equestrian Team look to build on their strong performance as they travel to Lander University in Greenwood, SC to compete Feb 18th & 19, 2023.
