WOLVES SPLIT ON THE ROAD WITH BEREA

BEREA, Kentucky - The Wolves jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, going up 4-0 in the opening game of Sunday's double header against Berea College. Yasnei LlavoreMarilynn NesmithKassidy Hulett, and Emilee Stevenson all had RBI's in the first with Kiara BinnsValarie EllisJillian Crosby, and Llavore all crossing the plate. Wesleyan would never relinquish that lead as they would go on to generate thirteem runs off of thirteen hits. Alicia Ramirez, had two hits in the game as did Crosby and Binns. Nesmith and Hulett would both add a hit a piece, but Llavore led the way going 3 for 4 from the plate driving in three RBI's and scoring three runs of her own. MacKenzie Hooker would score the win from the rubber in a high scoring affair with Wesleyan taking the victory 13-8.     

Game 2 of the day would see Wesleyan struggle to score despite another thirteen hit performance. The Wolves would give up eight earned runs that they would't able to match at the plate. There were also three fielding errors that didn't help matters. Binns and Ramirez both had two hits and starting pitcher Crosby would go 4 for 4 from the batters box with one RBI. Ultimately the Wolves fell 9-3.

Junior right fielder Savanna Boyette who had a hit and an RBI on the day had this to say, "Overall I think we played very well. We were strong offensively and we know what we need to work on defensively I am confident in our abilities and I believe we have what it takes to have a successful season."

Head Coach Penny Siqueiros added, "We are so young yet things are so exciting!  I see great flashes of excellence and championship level play from our team. I anticipate we will grow beyond measure with every passing game. I can't wait for us to play games everyday, this team is fun and eager."
