Wolves Split with Knights

The Wolves Softball team traveled south to Cochran, Georgia today to take on the Knights of Middle Georgia State University in a mid-week doubleheader.

In game one, the Wolves struck first in the second inning with a single from Dylan Andrews which allowed Jendayi Wright to score from third. The Wolves would give up that lead in the fourth as the Knights would score the tying run. The Wolves would find themselves trailing going into the seventh inning with a score of 2-1. However, these Wolves of the 2020 season are hungry and never give up. In the top of the seventh inning, the Wolves would score two runs on a triple hit by Savanna Pollock and another two runs off of a Sydney McDonald homerun to deep left taking the lead to 5-2. The Knights would attempt to fight back by scoring two more runs in their half of the seventh but would ultimately lose 5-4.

Pitcher, Kimmy Dick, went the distance to pick up the win and ten strikeouts on the day.

Game two was a close one with the Knights leading 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. The Knights would capitalize on the Wolves two errors in the inning to score three more additional runs to win the 4-0. Pitcher Lauran Allbritton pitched four innings with three strikeouts.

The Wolves will be on the road all weekend beginning with a double header against William Peace on Friday.
