MACON, GA -- Our 5th place Wesleyan College Wolves faced off against 6th palace LaGrange College in a must win doubleheader on Saturday. 

 

Our Wolves despite finishing the previous day's double header with Huntingdon College at 9 pm and having a rain delayed start to the day's game came out on fire as Tihana Zupanic and Janae Rookard rbi hits gave the Wolves a 3-0 lead after the 1st inning. Sabrina Bowen's 2 rbi single in the 2nd inning gave the Wolves a commanding 5-0 lead. 

 

LaGrange closed the gap in the 4th inning making the score 5-1 but Janae Rookard had an rbi triple and Brooke Fleming an rbi single to finish the scoring and close out the game at 7-1. Seven Wesleyan batters recorded hits as the Wolves claimed game one from LaGrange behind the stellar pitching of Kimmy Dick who allowed no earned runs in the 7-1 victory.

 

In game 2 of the doubleheader our Wolves continued to swing hot bats as six Wesleyan College players recorded hits in support of starting pitcher Tihana Zupanic. 

 

After allowing a 1st inning run to LaGrange, our Wolves exploded in the bottom of the 1st inning for 4 runs behind a 2 rbi triple by Savannah Pollock and a well executed double steal by Jendayi Wright and Savannah Pollock with Wright stealing second and Pollock stealing home. 

 

In the bottom of the 4th the home team was at it again as our Wolves exploded for 5 more runs behind doubles by Savannah Pollock, Janae Rookard and a triple by Brooke Fleming making the score 9-1. 

 

Marilynn Nesmith went 3 for 3 during the game and Tihana Zupanic did not allow an earned run as the Wolves swept and important doubleheader from LaGrange College and solidified their hold on 5th place in the USA South West Division. 

 

Seniors Alexia Rivera, Marilynn Nesmith, Emilee Stevenson, Kimmy Dick, Jendayi Wright, and Tihana Zupanic were honored. 

 

The Wolves next games are Tuesday, April 19th vs Fort Valley State University, 4pm & 6 pm doubleheader. Come out and support our Wolves Softball Team!!
