McCord, Zupanic lead Wolves to Split with Clark Atlanta

Macon, GA- The Wesleyan Wolves softball team played host to Clark Atlanta splitting the twin bill with a 3-1 win in the open before dropping game 2 9-2. Tihana Zupanic was simply sensational in the circle for Wolves, fanning 20 Panther hitters in her 11 innings of work on the afternoon while adding 3 hits of her own at the plate. Katelyn McCord drove in all of the Wolves runs finishing the day 5-8 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI.

Game 1:

Zupanic started in the circle and tossed a gem scattering 5 hits across the outing while striking out 15 tossing 68 of her 95 pitches for strikes. The Wolves offense was clicking as they had a runner on base in each of the innings of game but couldn't find a timely hit to get on the board until the 5th inning.  With two outs in the inning Emilee Stevenson got on base with a single through the infield. Zupanic then hit a single of her own, and Ariell Wallace drew a walk to load the bases. Katelyn McCord put together a great at bat lacing a double over the head of the centerfield to drive in all three of the Wolves runs. Zupanic finished the game striking out 4 of the final six outs to secure the Wesleyan win.

Game 2:

The Panthers jumped ahead early taking a 6-0 lead after 3 innings of play. The Wolves threatened the entire game but were once again unable to get runners home stranding 9 runners on the base paths. McCord had another standout performance finishing 4-4 at the plate and driving in both of the Wolves runs, while Kaitlyn Bennett finished with 3 hits, and Wallace, Taylor Frye, Sabrina Bowen, and Zupanic all had a pair of hits in the night cap.

The Wolves will be back in CCS play as they travel to Piedmont to take on the Lions this Sunday the 26th. Games start at 1pm and 3pm.
