Basketball Season Ending Victory, 74-62

(Jacksonville, FL) After a slow first quarter Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville trailing the Trinity Baptist Eagles 17-8, the Wolves strong second and third quarters propelled them to the season ending win. Carrying the team was Sophomore TK Blount packing the stat line for her second triple-double on the season with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 steals. TK is currently ranked first in to USA South for total steals (137) and steals per game 5.7, and second in the nation in steals per game. Additionally, with her triple-double to end the season, she is only one of two players in Division III women's basketball to have more than one triple-double performance this year.
 
Senior Taylor Hauser, playing in her final career game, kicked off the second quarter with two of her 15 points on the afternoon. With 4:11 remaining in the second quarter, Junior standout Taylor Thigpen (team high 21 points, 5 assists) had back to back steals and connected on four free throws to take the lead 26-25.  The Eagles continued to battle regaining the lead 30-26 after scoring five consecutive points.  Alexis Russell (18 points, 7 rebounds) was clutch in the final two minutes of the quarter scoring 4 of her 18 points to send the Wolves into the locker room with a tied ballgame at 30.  
 
The Wolves came out in the third quarter with an uptempo full court pressure defense picking off the Eagles for 6 steals (game total 22) and converting offensively with 7 assists on 10 buckets for 26 points. Sophomore Quenshawn Brandon was a key defensively for the Wolves and dished out 5 assists for the game on the offensive end. Leading 56-46 heading into the fourth, the Wolves never looked back as they sealed their victory 74-62 over the Eagles.  
 
The Wolves finished their season 5-19, improving upon their 2016-17 record.
