Wolves Finish First Half Of Season, Maxwell Scores 19

It wasn't a win for Wesleyan basketball on Saturday, but it was perhaps a step in the right direction for the young team. For the second time this season there were only five players who took the court for the Wolves which means they played all forty minutes. Freshman guard Diedre Maxwell scored 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting while going 4 of 7 from three point range. Maxwell has emerged as the team's go to option on offense.

First year head coach Kyle Herring spoke after the game saying, "Today was a unique experience. We had a total of five players make the trip. Again, it is hard to compete for 40 minutes with just five or six players. The good sign is we shot the ball better from 3. The bad is we gave up way, way too many offensive rebounds. If they missed, it was basically shoot until they score. We have to get better boxing out as a team."

The Wolves will have some time over the break to regroup, and work on their weaknesses as they don't play again for nearly a month. Welseyan will tip off 2019's portion of the season when they travel to Huntingdon College on January 2nd, at 3:00 PM.
