Wesleyan Basketball closes out season on the road

Marilynn Nesmith led the way with 4 points and 8 rebounds, but the Wolves were overmatched in their final contest of the season. Agnes Scott had 9 players score points for them and they outrebounded Wesleyan by a significant margin. Coach Herring has been hitting the recruiting trail hard and looks to sign a strong 2019 class. Wesleyan Basketball fought hard all season long, but with a new coach that just arrived in the fall added to imense roster turnover (no players from the season opening roster were still present at the end of the year), it was not an environment that was conducive to immediate success. Coach Herring is cut from a championship cloth and his optomistic about the future.

Herring had this to say about the season, "I want to thank each of the players that finished the season with us. Not a single one of them is here to play basketball. 6 of the 7 are here to play softball. We had several first-time-in-their-life players this season and they worked hard. It is just a situation we didn't want to be in this year and we can't be in next year. I appreciate how hard these kids worked this year given the odds that they were facing. They did all this with great attitudes as well. We had several ADs and school presidents stop by after games and commend the young ladies on effort and attitude. Of course we would like different results, but it is always good to get those kinds of compliments."

Stay tuned for more details regarding the 2019 basketball recruiting class.
