Mountaineers Hold Off Wolves in Second Half for the Win.

Today's match up between the Wesleyan Wolves and Berea Mountainers seemed to be a set for a David vs. Goliath situation. The Wolves coming in after a very tough game Friday evening when taking the overtime loss to Brevard and still searching for their first win; against the Mountaineers of Berea who were entering the game at 12-2 on the season and holding the top position in almost every statistical category. 

The Wolves would begin the game showing their tenacity and hunger. They lead most of the first quarter. The longest held lead of the season. The Mountaineers would answer during the second quarter taking the lead at half time 41-29. The Mountaineers offense would continue their hot streak all through the third quarter, outscoring the Wolves 29-8 in the quarter and pulling away with a lead hard to recover from. The Wolves would outscore the Mountaineers 20-10 in the fourth. 

Freshman Natera Perkins would lead the Wolves offense with 15 points on the day followed by Jamila Ra-Hashim with 8. Worth noting is the Wolves' assists during this game with 15. The ball movement on the court offensively was very fun to watch. Wesleyan would once again win the points in the paint for the day outscoring Berea 28-10. Wesleyan's bench scored 44 on the day lead by Freshmen Natera Perkins and BreAsia Davis

Defensively, the Wolves would end the game with 39 defensive rebounds. Three Wolves had 5 rebounds each (Perkins, Houpt, Brown). 

The Wolve are on the road on Tuesday when they take on Sewanee.
