Wolves drop CCS opener at Belhaven

Macon, GA- The Wolves basketball team traveled to Jackson Mississippi to open CCS play against the Blazers of Belhaven University dropping the matchup by a final of 84-50. Destiny Grider led the Wolves with 15 points, Jamila Ra-Hashim was in double figures with 10, and Otashae Burrage finished with 7 points and a team leading 15 rebounds. The Wolves, coming off a 12 day break from game play, faltered out of the gates falling behind 20-1 after the first 10 minutes of play. The team was able to find their rhythm a bit in the second quarter scoring 24 points to go into the half trailing Belhaven 45-25. Mia Walker finished the quarter with 7 points going 3-3 from the field with a 3 pointer, while Burrage and Grider had 6 points a piece including 2 three balls from Burrage who also pulled down 6 rebounds in the quarter. Grider would put up 7 more points in the third quarter, but the Wolves outside shooting cooled off in the 2nd half as they were 0-12 in the final 20 minutes of play from behind the arc.Jamila Ra-Hashim was able to convert 2-8 from the field plus a pair of free throws in the 4th quarter to lead the Wolves with 6 points in the final quarter of play as they ultimately fell to the Blazers by a final of 84-50. 

 

The Wolves will be back on the court after the holidays as they take on Talladega College at home in a non conference matchup Saturday December 30th starting at 2:00PM
