Wolves Fall to Scots in Maryville

Macon,GA- The Wesleyan Wolves basketball team traveled to Maryville, TN to take on the Scots of Maryville College in a CCS matchup dropping the game by a final of 71-47. Mia Walker continued her scoring onslaught as she led the Wolves with 17, while Destiny Grider followed right behind her with 16 points and a team leading 8 rebounds. Otashae Burrage finished in double figures as well contributing 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. 

 

Mia Walker did what she could to keep the Wolves in the game early scoring 6 of the Wolves 7 points in the opening 10 minutes of play, including the first 4 points of the game giving the Wolves a 4-0 lead. The Scots managed to pull away in the final 5 minutes of the first quarter finishing the first 10 minutes of play leading the Wolves 15-7. The Scots extended the lead by a basket going into the half leading the Wolves by a score of 30-20. Walker continued to find the bottom the basket scoring 6 more in the second quarter. Burrage got in the mix as well, scoring 5 of her 11 and pulling down 5 rebounds before the half.

 

The Scots came out of the break blazing as they shot 50% (10-20) from the field in the third quarter to extend their lead to 55-32. Burrage played her best quarter in the 4th scoring 6 points and dishing out 3 assists while Bam Grider scored 9 points, but the effort wasn't enough to bring the Wolves back in the ball game as they fell by a final of 71-47. 

 

They will be back in action today as they continue up I75 to Berea, KY where they will be taking on the Berea College Mountaineers in another CCS Matchup. Tip off will be at 3PM EST.
