Macon, GA- The Wolves finished off their road trip north to start 2024 with a CCS match up against the Mountaineers of Berea College in Berea, KY dropping the contest by a final score of 88-50. Mia Walker was the top scorer with 20 points on the night knocking down a season high 6 three pointers. Otashae Burrage and Destiny Grider finished in double figures as well with Grider contributing 15 and 4 rebounds, while Burrage had 13 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Brescia Tejada contributed 9 rebounds to the effort, while Trinity Burger had 5 rebounds and 2 points. 

The Wolves offense was clicking to start the ball game as they shot a blistering 50% from the field including Mia Walker sinking 2-3 from beyond the arc, but turnovers proved to be their downfall as Berea was able to build a 47-25 lead after the first 20 minutes of play. The Mountaineers were able to extend the lead after the break controlling the paint and scoring second chance points. The Mountaineers outscored Wesleyan 40-10 in the paint and turned 23 Wesleyan turnovers into 42 points. The Wolves shot the ball well, hitting 33% of their field goals (17-52) and 35% of their 3 point attempts (8-23). After 40 minutes of play Berea took the victory 88-50. 

 

The emergence of Mia Walker, Bam Grider, and Otashae Burrage as young scoring threats show this Wolves team has potential for this season, and seasons to come. The Wolves will try to right the ship in Porter Gymnasium this Saturday as they will be taking on Trinity Baptist College in a home non-conference matchup. Tip off is scheduled for 2:00PM EST.
