Big Night from Burrage Not Enough To Slow Down TBC Eagles

Macon,GA- The Wesleyan Wolves welcomed the Eagles of Trinity Baptist to Porter Gymnasium this afternoon dropping the matchup by a final of 79-67. Otashae Burrage put on a show with a season 29 points shooting a blistering 68% from the field (11-16) including 3 of 5 from behind the arc. Mia Walker and Destiny Grider also finished in double figures with Walker scoring 17 and Grider finishing with 10 points to go along with her team high 9 rebounds. Briscia Tejada finished with a basket and 6 rebounds, Trinity Burger pulled down 5 rebounds and contributed 3 points, while Saddiya Steedley contributed 6 points off the bench.  

 

 The Wolves came out hot leading 20-19 at the conclusion of the first 10 minutes of play. Tae Burrage led the way with 9 points shooting a perfect 3-3 from the field consisting of 2 long balls and then converting the three point play the tough way with an and 1 lay up and converting the free throw. 

 

Wesleyan fought off the charging Eagles for most of the second quarter, leading up to the last minute before Trinity Baptist was able to take advantage of a few Wolves turnovers and grab a 3 point lead right before the break. 

 

The Eagles were all over the glass in the 3rd quarter out rebounding Wesleyan 20-7 and scoring 16 of their 18 points in the paint extending their lead to 55-44 with 10 minutes to play. 

 

The Wolves made a push in the final 10 minutes of play behind the scoring of Burrage who managed 12 more points in the final quarter, but the Eagles continued to dominate in the rebound category out rebounding the Wolves 21-3 in the 4th quarter helping them to 11 second chance points and outscorning Wesleyan 24-23 in a high octane final 10 minutes of basketball to take the matchup by a final of 79-67

 

The Wolves have another quick turn around as they will be welcoming the Piedmont Lions to town on Tuesday January 9th to kick off. CCS play in 2024. Tip off will be at 5:30pm and be available to watch online through our Wolves TV link.
