Wolves Soccer Celebrates Second Consecutive Shutout Win

Sweet Briar, VA - For the second consecutive day, the Wesleyan College soccer team picked up a huge shutout win, defeating Sweetbriar College 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Notables:

  • In two matches, Wesleyan's 17 goals has nearly doubled the number of goals scored in all of the 2016 season (10).
  • Four Wesleyan players, all of whom scored goals in yesterday's match, combined to score the team's seven goals today. Freshman Fetlework Blitch, freshman Sophia Borovsky, and senior Katie Tanner each netted two, while senior Jessica Austell punched in another. Freshman Nadia Al-Shahabi was once again impressive in the midfield, setting up another three goals today, pushing her assist total to seven in two matches.
  • Sophomore Carlee Dykes and freshman Kayleigh Buie each played an uneventful half in goal, as the Wolves keepers faced only one shot all day.

Quotable:

"We were once again very clinical in front of the goal, especially in the first half," stated head coach Ian Doherty. "The work ethic and commitment this weekend has been great to see. We're scoring goals and keeping clean sheets, which is exactly what we want every game. Hopefully we continue this strong run throughout the season."
