Oglethorpe Hands Wolves First Loss of Season

Atlanta, GA - A slow start hindered the Wesleyan College soccer team in their first loss of the season on Wednesday evening, a 3-1 decision in favor of Oglethorpe University.

Notables:

  • For the third consecutive game, freshman Fetlework Blitch scored a goal for the Wolves, marking her fourth goal of the season.
  • The Stormy Petrels took a 1-0 lead into the intermission and tacked on a second goal shortly after the start of the second half. However, the Wolves settled down and converted in the 80th minute and just missed on netting on a couple of other attempts.

Quotable:

Head coach Ian Doherty remarked, "I thought we played very solid in the second half today. It took us a little while to get going, but we were dangerous once we settled down. We created some good chances, but we just need to finish on them in the future."
