Wesleyan Soccer Defeats Johnson in Home Opener

Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College soccer team improved to 3-1 this season in their home opener on Saturday evening, defeating Johnson University by a score of 2-1 at the Mathews Athletic Complex.

Notables:

  • Senior Katie Tanner once again filled the score sheet for the Wolves, scoring the game winner in the second half as well as assisting on senior Jessica Austell's first half goal.
  • Freshman Kayleigh Buie earned her first start of the season in goal, and sophomore Carlee Dykes entered the game in the second half to seal the win for the Wolves.

"We created many chances tonight and our work ethic was solid," stated Wesleyan head coach Ian Doherty. Once again, we were pretty solid defensively. I'm very happy with our progression to this point."
