Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College soccer team took USA South West leader Huntingdon College to double overtime on Saturday afternoon, wrapping up 110 minutes on the pitch with a 1-1 tie.

Notables:

  • Outshot 24 to 5 by the Hawks, Wesleyan buckled down and played an exceptional match defensively. Sophomore Carlee Dykes gave up only one goal while recording 10 saves.
  • Freshman Fetlework Blitch scored for the Wolves in the 41st minute on a penalty kick.
  • Six Wesleyan players recorded more than 100 minutes on the field, with three playing the entire match (Carlee Dykes, Fetlework Blitch, and Nadia Al-Shahabi).

Wesleyan head coach Ian Doherty stated, "The effort today was incredible. We fought hard, defended well, and stayed disciplined. The attitude and work ethic out there is exactly what I'm looking for. Our goalkeeper, Carlee Dykes, was very solid today. We were unlucky not to capitalize on a few other chances, but we continued to fight the entire match."
