The Wesleyan Wolves soccer program fell to Pfeiffer University by a 6-0 decision at the Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Tournament on Sunday. The Wolves had a 2nd half shutout, but ultimately the damage was too great from the first half.

Pfeiffer put the dagger in the Wolves early with a goal from Pfeiffer's Mackenzie Pruitt in the 9th minute. Cayci Eaton and MacKenzie Pruitt (Pfeiffer) put 2 more goals into the back of the net in the 12th and 13th minute of the match. Three more goals within the first half in the 29th, 42nd, & 44th minute by Madeline Capel (2) & Kelsey Esquivel respectively by Pfeiffer gave the Falcons the win. Wesleyan's Fetlework Blitch led the Wolves with 2 shots on net. Kourtney Mydlowski, Audrey Mecklenburg, and Quenshawn Brandon all registered shots in the match.

After the match, Head Coach Don Tees commented "We had an extremely strong 2nd half defensively and generated some offense for several chances. It pains the coaching staff to see how much potential our program has, but the heart and will sometimes comes too late in the match. We need to start off strong right from the start and we'll be competitive and in these matches we should be in. In the 2nd half, we started with only 7 field players to prove a point that we need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and work harder because we can play with them! And that's is what happen; we played a great 2nd half and I'm really proud of these ladies."

Tees continued: "We have alot to work on still, but we are starting to learn more each and every day about how to build our program for the future. We have to use this positive to promote our program and move forward. With all the odds stacked against us, we are building and I believe we have faith in our process moving forward with development."

The Wolves are back on the road at Bob Jones University in South Carolina on September 13th. The match is set for 6:00pm EST.
