The Wesleyan Wolves soccer program blasted home 4 goals in a 4-0 win over Talladega College Sunday. The win gives the Wolves their first victory of the 2018 campaign.

The wolves kicked off scoring from a Sophomore Fetlework Blitch ball to Sophomore Nadia Al-Shihabi who found the back of the net on a slotted ball in the 26th minute. The goal scoring continued as Sophomore Madison Thorton scored from distance on a diagonal shot from outside the box, sending a shot from the left flank and over the keeper's head in the side netting far post. Freshmen Audrey Mecklenburg tallied her first goal of her collegiate career, finding a ball sent into a scrum in the box and ultimately tapping it home. Freshmen Kelly Matthews finished off the scoring by hitting a one timer 40 yards out, passing the keeper and into the goal.

Junior Goalkeeper Carlee Dykes was credited with the Shutout.

Head Coach Don Tees praised the ladies for their call to effort today: "There has to be faith in the process of what we are trying to build here at Wesleyan. For so long, the program really hasn't been a true collegiate program and we are trying to change that. With today's win, we took a different approach and it worked out. Saying this, we must now grow from the past and head towards the future. We aren't going to back down from the challenge now that set for us and we are going to give 100% to our physical, technique, and psychological approaches to the game. -- It was a great first win for us and I'm really proud of the ladies taking measures to rally around a cause and bounce-back from Saturday."

The Wolves return to the field Wednesday, September 26th as they play Sewanee University in Tennessee. The match is locked-in for a 6:00pm CT kickoff.
