Wolves Take Care of Hawks!

Wolves Take Care of Hawks!

MACON, Ga. – As the Wolves celebrated Senior Night for their three seniors on the roster, the Wolves came into this game knowing that it was a must-win in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. That would not be the only drama that unfolded in the evening. After the start time was rescheduled from 3 pm to 5 pm; lightning delayed the game for over an hour after only 12 minutes of play with the Wolves on top 1-0. As the lightning threat diminished, the weather overall did not as the winds and rain from Tropical Storm Nestor continued to pound Panoz Field.

Coming off of the weather delay, the Hawks would score quickly off the foot of Lindsay Paskman. The game would go into halftime tied 1-1. The Hawks would quickly take the lead 2-1 with a goal from Coco Burgess with an assist by Erin Cembrale, as they came out very physical and strong in the second half. As the rain came down harder, both teams seemed to play harder. Due to two penalties in the box; one in the 62nd minute and the other in the 63rd minute; Fetlework Blitch scored off of two penalty kicks to bring the Wolves into the lead 3-2.

The defense was stellar throughout the game with several defensive saves throughout the game to keep the ball out of the goal. The Wolves will complete their regular season on the road at Covenant College next Saturday in another must-win game.
