Wolves Can't Catch Owls In Home Opener

Macon, GA- The Wolves welcomed the Owls of Mississippi State University for Women to Panoz field on Labor Day for this season's home opener, dropping the match by a final of 5-0 to fall to 0-2 on the young season.  

The Wolves kept pace in the first half with Keeper Angel Lockett putting on a clinic in goal saving 6 of the Owls 16 shots on goal. Lockett and stout defensive play kept the Wolves within striking distance trailing 1-0 at the break. 

The Owls came out of intermission firing on all cylinders scoring 3 goals on 7 shots in the first 15 minutes of the second period to extend the lead to 4-0. MUW would add another goal in the 65th minute to make the score 5-0. Wolves midfielder Veronica Pacheco managed to break through the Owls defense and get a shot on goal in the second half, but the Owls prevailed to earn their first win of the season defeating Wesleyan 5-0 in regulation. The Wolves drop to 0-2 on the season and will look to turn things around this Wednesday September 6th as they take on Georgia Military College in Martinez, GA starting at 6PM.
