WOLVES WIN!

Macon, GA- The Wolves soccer team stopped by Oakwood University on their way back from Talladega College to square up with the Ambassadors, coming out on top for the first time this season by a final of 6-2. Senior Midfielder Amber Whitten had a day to remember dishing out 4 assists and putting two in the back of the net herself, while Freshman Fernanda Perez had the best game of her young career finishing with two of the goals passed out by Whitten. Transfer Ani Springer and Sophomore Veronica Pacheco rounded out the Wolves offensive onslaught, each scoring their first goals in the purple and black. 

Fernanda Perez got the Wolves on the board early, scoring the first goal of her career in the 12th minute of play. The goal by Perez was quickly followed up by another by Veronica Pacheco sent her way by Perez in the 15th minute of play. The Ambassadors made a push with a pair of goals of their own evening the match up at 2 goals a piece with 15 minutes to play in the first half, then Amber Whitten took over. The Wolves Senior Midfielder punched her way through the Ambassador defense to find teammates Perez and Ani Springer for goals in the 37th and 40th minutes of play, then finished the half with two goals of her own in the 42nd and 44th minute to give the Wolves a commanding 6-2 lead at the break. 

After a first half full of fireworks, Coach Berkebile's team found themselves with a comfortable 4 goal lead, and were able to sit back and play defense for the final 45 minutes. Crystal Francis was stalwart in goal snatching 6 more saves. The Wolves kept the 6-2 lead and got back on the bus with a W to bring back to Macon. 

The ladies will be back at Panoz Field this Wednesday September 13th playing host to the Allen University Yellow Jackets starting at 6PM. That game can be watched and followed online by clicking the links next to the game on our schedule page.
