Wolves Play Tough, Fall to Toccoa

Macon, GA- It was Family Weekend at Wesleyan College with a plethora of events, and athletic matchups for the families of our students to enjoy. The Wolves soccer team played tough but weren't able to get on the board, dropping a match to the Screaming Eagles of Toccoa Falls by a final of 2-0. The match could have been much more lopsided if not for the phenomenal goal keeping of Angel Lockett who finished the night with 14 saves including some truly spectacular diving efforts where she was able to bat the ball away from the net.

The Screaming Eagles got on the board early finding the back of the net inside the first minute of play to take a 1-0 lead. The score would remain 1-0 for the final 44 minutes of the first half with the Wolves defense, led by Lockett in goal, turning away the attack of Toccoa Falls time and time again. The defense remained stout in the second half while the Wolves tried to get behind the Screaming Eagles and get on the board. Their best opportunity came in the 63rd minute of play when Freshman midfielder Piper Tadlock managed to get in the box and get a strong shot off, but it sailed just over the crossbar. The Screaming Eagles padded their lead just before the horn with a goal that got just over the outstretched hands of Lockett to bang off the bottom of the crossbar and bounce in making the final 2-0 Toccoa Falls.

The Wolves have a bit of a break with their next matchup being Wednesday September 27th as they travel to Lagrange College to take on the Panthers at 6:00PM in what will be a CCS matchup.
