Macon, GA-

The Wesleyan College Tennis team took on the Albany State University Rams on Thursday in a heart-pounding four and a half hour match that came down to the wire. The Wolves eventually lost to the Rams by a score of 5-4.

Up 2-0 to start the match, due to two forfeits by ASU, the Wolves fought hard in doubles but could not close out some very close matches. The #1 doubles team, consisting of Senior Captain Centara Nulf and First Year Erin Laffey fought til the end and were a couple of games away from a win, but could not adjust to the Rams' consistent play towards the end of the set.

Feeling the Senior Day vibes, Senior Captain Centara Nulf played to a dominating beat in singles and won her match at the #2 position 6-1, 6-2.

Sophomore Celeste Zhang was one of the last matches of the day and her steady hitting towrds the end aas well as clutch shot-making won her the match in a 3rd set super-tiebreak 10-5.

First Year Erin Laffey staged a mighty comeback to try to give Wesleyan the win by winning the 2nd set of her match 6-3, but couldn't hold off the consistent play of her opponent and lost 4-6, 6-3, 2-6.

"And again, as I've said before, this team fights to the very end and the determination and grit from every member of the team is outstanding. Throughout the year, we've had some really close matches and the improvements I've seen along the way will help this program grow in the future." Coach Kosicki stated. "The leadership and examples that the seniors have left on this program will be felt for years to come!"
