Wolves Volleyball Ready To Go

Macon, GA- The Wesleyan Wolves Volleyball program is prepared to take the court this Tuesday September 5th at Lagrange College in a non-conference matchup against the Panthers. The Wolves are coached by Malae Fiaseu in her 4th season as head coach and look to build off of their 7 win season in 2022. While many of the Wolves athletics teams are in a youth movement starting many underclassmen, the Wolves volleyball program returns 6 seniors to the roster this season looking to build off of their 7 win 2022.

"It feels great to have my athletes on campus, especially our freshmen." Said Head Coach Malae Fiaseu, "My players have been putting in the work with the short amount of time we've had already. Each player has come in with a different mindset but overall one goal, which helps prepare us to move in the right direction. Being able to have a routine with balance, organization and time management allows us to stay focused on and off the court. The more we practice and work through our kinks as individuals, and as a team, the more excited I get about this upcoming season. Each player wants nothing but the best for each other. Challenging and holding each other accountable during workouts, practice, and in the classroom makes all the time being put in worth every second. It's an investment. An investment that each player is willing to put in to ensure we are successful throughout our season. I am looking forward to seeing how we do this season with keeping the same vision and going in a different direction to get there."

With the Wolves returning a big senior class, the big question is what does this season mean to the athletes returning for their last collegiate season this year?  "All of the players have stepped up to make sure that what they are putting out on the court is their max effort." Said Fiaseu, "Each and every returner has shown me why this season is different and important to them. Taking full responsibility for how each individual performs and contributes to the team's success."

Even with the big returning class Coach Malae has been impressed with the new faces on campus this Fall. "Our freshmen and new Sophomore have impressed me tremendously." continued coach Fiaseu. "I was thinking that they would come in a little nervous because of the new environment they are in, but man I was wrong. Our first practice up until now is as if they all have been playing together for a while. They are open to our team dynamic which makes it "easier" for my players to work together and for me to coach. They bring a different light to our team and it's amazing to observe from the side during practice how much growth each new player has shown. I can't wait to see them on the court playing at a high level being a factor to our team's success."

The Wolves will be opening their season Tuesday September 5th Vs Lagrange with whom they split a pair of matches a year ago.

The first home match for the Wolves will take place in Porter Gymnasium on Wesleyan's campus on September 16th Vs Brewton Parker at 6:30pm. Our social media can be followed for updates on the matchup at Lagrange.
