9/23/23 Wolves Fight Hard, Drop a Pair at Home

Macon, GA- The Wolves played host to the Mountaineers of Berea College and the Panthers of Lagrange College in a CCS Trimatch during Family Weekend at Wesleyan College ultimately dropping both matches. They played the Mountaineers first dropping the match in straight sets, but rebounded strongly, losing a heartbreaker to Lagrange in 5 sets after being down 2-0. 

 

Berea

The Wolves dropped their opening match to Berea by finals of 25-19, 25-13 and a hard fought 27-25. Zoe Redmond led the Wolves in game 1 with 6 points consisting of 4 kills, a solo block and 2 block assists. Brittany Davis had 5 points consisting of 4 kills and an ace. Davis also contributed 5 digs and 2 assists in a well rounded performance. Trinity Jackson finished the game with 11 assists and 7 digs to lead the team. 

 

Lagrange

The second match of the day for the Wolves was a rematch from opening night against the Panthers from Lagrange College. Just like the first matchup this was tightly contested with the match going 5 sets finishing with sets of 26-24, 25-13, 25-21, 25-20, and 15-12 with the Wolves coming out on top in sets 3 and 4 to push Lagrange to the 5th set. Senior Sharon Inno-Dike had a huge match for the Wolves scoring consisting of 11 kills, solo blocks, and 4 block assists, while fellow Senior Brittany Davis finished with 10 points on 10 kills while also contributing 15 digs defensively. Zaysharae- Malia Hughes finished the match with 20 digs as the libero in each set and added 3 service aces and 6 assists to the stat book. 

 

The Wolves will be back on the court Thursday September 28th as they travel down I75 to Fort Valley State University to take on the Wildcats in a non-conference matchup.
