Wolves Rally to Top Scotties

Macon, GA- The Wolves traveled to Decatur, GA to square up with the Scotties in the season series finale exacting a little revenge by taking the match by a final of 3-2. Zoe Redmond led the Wolves with 12 points on the night consisting of 10 kills, an assist, a solo block, and 2 block assists. Lativa Ray had her best night of season finishing with 10 kills, while Breya Cobb had another excellent performance with 8 kills and 2 blocks. Zaysharae Malia-Hughes was dominant from the Libero position collecting 20 digs on the night and 2 service aces right at the end of the 5th set to help lift the Wolves to victory.

This was a fun, back and forth, closely contested matchup from start to finish. The Wolves prevailed in the first two sets winning by finals of 25-21 and 25-20 to take a 2 set lead. Lativa Ray led the Wolves in the first set recording 4 kills, while Zoe Redmond finished the first 2 sets with 8 kills to help put the Wolves ahead. The Scotties put up a good fight taking sets 3 and 4 by finals of 26-24. Staving off defeat by the smallest of margins in the 3rd as the Wolves had a 24-22 lead before the Scotties went on a 4 point run to snatch the set and stay alive. Ray led a very balanced Wolves attack in the 4th set with 4 more kills, while 3 other Wolves finished with a pair of kills each. Once again, the Wolves were ahead deep into the set leading 23-18 before the Scotties rallied to take the set 26-24. The third time was the charm for the Wolves. In the deciding 5th set they fell behind 14-12 and, with Agnes Scott fighting for the match point, rallied to get the victory with a 4 point comeback of their own. A Zoe Redmond kill followed by a pair of Zaysharae Malia-Hughes service aces put the Wolves up 15-14. Agnes Scott was able to return the 3rd Malia-Hughes serve, but the attack was stopped in its tracks by the Freshman wall of Breya Cobb and Maya Missi who combined for block that put the Wolves up 16-14 winning them the set and the match.

The Wolves will be back on the court this Saturday the 28th as they travel to Jackson, MS to take on Belhaven and Covenant in a CCS Trimatch.
