Wolves Drop a Pair at Belhaven University

Macon, GA- The Wolves volleyball team traveled to Belhaven University in Jackson, MS for a CCS trimatch with the Blazers of Belhaven and the Scotts of Covenant College dropping both matches in straight sets. Breya Cobb led the Wolves across the 2 matches recording 15 points, while Zaysharae Malia Hughes continued her excellent work at Libero with 15 more digs against the Blazers

 

Wolves Vs Belhaven

Belhaven jumped out to an early lead with a 25-14 first set, before the Wolves got going in set 2 pushing the set to extra points dropping it 26-24. The Wolves fell behind 14-9 in set 2 before making a 5 point comeback to tie the score at 20-20. Two service aces by senior Brittany Davis and a kill by Freshman Mayah Misi would put them on top 24-23, but the Blazers wouldn't be denied as they were able to score 3 unanswered and take a 2 set to none lead. Belhaven would end the match with a 25-18 victory over the Wolves in the 3rd set. Breya Cobb led the Wolves with 10 points consisting of 8 kills, a service ace, and 2 block assists. Brittany Davis finished right behind Cobb with 9 points consisting of 5 kills and 4 service aces, and 8 digs defensively. Zaysharae Malia- Hughes added 15 digs to her team leading 263 digs on the season. 

 

Wolves Vs Scots

The Wolves finished the trimatch with a matchup against the 16-0 CCS leading Scots dropping the matchup in 3 sets by finals of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-8. Freshman Breya Cobb led the Wolves attack with 5 points consisting of 4 more kills and 2 block assists, while Mayah Misi finished with 4.5 points consisting of 4 kills and a block assist. Senior Camille Duncan had a solid performance with 9 digs defensively. 

 

The Wolves next action will be in CCS tournament play as they will take on Agnes Scott College once again. This match will take place at 5pm at Covenant College with the winner taking on the Scots at 7pm.
