Wesleyan Tabs Wieters As Cross Country Coach

Macon, Ga. - Krista Wieters is the newest member of the Wesleyan College coaching staff, replacing new mother Melissa Bush as the Pioneers head cross country coach. A runner for Mercer University during her college days, she brings an extensive knowledge of the sport with her to Wesleyan.

Prior to joining the Pioneers, Wieters served as the head coach for the Mercer University Running Club from 2006-2010. She was responsible for launching the organization, running practices and organizing races. In addition to coaching, she is also a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for both Mercer University and The Wellness Center.

As a Division I collegiate athlete, Wieters served as the Bears team captain for three years and was recognized as a Scholar Athlete each season, achieving a grade point average of 3.3 or higher. She graduated from Mercer with a B.S. in Biology in 2000 before pursuing her Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Brimingham in 2002. Most recently, she completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Mercer University and now puts her education to use as a Grant Writing & Program Evaluation Consultant for Community Health Works.

Wieters becomes the third head coach in program history.
