Douglasville, GA - The Wesleyan College cross country team wrapped up its 2012 season on Saturday morning, finishing third at the Great South Athletic Conference Championship behind champions Spelman College and runners up Salem College.

Because Coveneant College is still considered an NCAA Division III provisional member, they were not eligible to win the championship despite scoring four points higher than Spelman for the meet.

Wesleyan's Ashly Annecchiarico was the team's top finisher, placing 18th in the 6K race with a time of 29:51.29. She improved her time by 15 seconds from one month ago when the Pioneers raced the same course at the GSAC Pre-Conference race. Sheila Walton finished 25th with a time of 35:11.88, improving her time on the course by 14 seconds, while Ahbin Kim's 26th place finish of 37:30 marked a nearly two minute improvement over one month ago.

""We had a really good, strong final meet,"" remarked Wesleyan head coach Krista Wieters. ""I'm really proud of the girls for improving their times over the course of the season, especially the three who earned PRs today in the final meet of the year.""
