Wesleyan's Brown Finishes Third at Macon Area Collegiate Cross Country Classic

Macon, GA - The Wesleyan College and Middle Georgia State University cross country teams met in the first annual Macon Area Collegiate Cross Country Classic on Monday evening at the Premiere Cross Country Course in Macon, GA.

Wesleyan's Chyla Brown led the Wolves with a third place finish with a time of 25:07. When the teams competed earlier this season on the same course, Brown finished with a time of  27:22, so in just six weeks, she has shaved a full two minutes off her time.

Tyler Walker was Wesleyan's second finisher with a time of 31:16, which also showed more than two minutes improvement from her previous finish on this course. She was followed by Stephanie Artola (32:22), Paloma Valesco (35:34), Taylor Thigpen (36:58), and Leidy Perez (40:06).

Wesleyan Coach Alex Kosicki stated, "What a day today was! From the commaraderie between the two opposing teams to our fan support, it was a really special day. We hope to make this an annual tradition between Middle Georgia State and Wesleyan. Our women have worked so incredibly hard to get to this point and today was a bonus meet as we prepare for the USA South Championship this weekend. Thank you to those who came out to watch and support our team. It was the best crowd we had all year."

Wesleyan will compete in the USA South Cross Country Championship this weekend in Tallulah Falls, GA. The women's race is slated to start at 11:00am.
