Kira Bohlke tabbed as Interim Head Cross Country Coach

On August 27th 2018, Interim Director of Athletics, Don Tees, announced the hiring of Interim Head Cross Country Coach, Kira Bohlke. Bohlke takes over the cross country program consisting of 8 runners and 5 meets slated for the 2018 fall campaign.

"We were very fortunate to have an experienced runner on staff that could help lead the way for our cross country program. I have full confidence that Kira will assist our young women with their 2018 competition schedule, developing a competitive program for the future and within the USA South.

In accepting the position, Bohlke commented: "I am so excited for the opportunity to be Interim Head Coach for the cross country team this year. I'm thankful for Wesleyan and everyone in the athletic department for giving me the chance to start building our program for the future. I look forward to working with the girls and building a new culture for the cross country team at Wesleyan, as well as providing a positive student-athlete experience for the ladies."

Bohlke joins the Wesleyan Athletic Department while working as an Assistant Teacher at The Hirsch Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2017, Coach Bohlke recieved her Bachelors in Psychology degree from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. At Huntingdon, she competed as a two sport athlete in both soccer & lacrosse. In high school, Bohlke also was a 4 year varsity athlete in soccer & cross country, with an average 20:25 time in the 5k.
