On August 29th, Interim Head Cross Country Coach, Kira Bohlke was in full force on her first week in charge. We had the opportunity to ask a few questions regarding preseason and the future.

First few days on the new post; how are the runners so far moving out of preseason.

"I really feel it went well and we had the chance to see our potential come from the runners. I'm excited to see where the season may go after the first several days. But it is also more than just running for me; for these girls to grow and getting to know them more as we develop these student-athletes for the future, that is what it's all about. For myself, it is very exciting to be a small part of that culture and to begin building a program & new mentality of how our cross country program is seen in the region."

How do you feel about the program going into the first meet?

"It will be a good test to see where we are at now. I am coming into the program during the early stages, so I'm excited how the girls will run and see where their fitness is and race knowledge. It is a much different environment than just practice and we'll get a good baseline from this first meet. It will show our development, what we have to work on moving forward, and start the building process of our cross country culture."

What did you gather about the program since coming to Wesleyan?

"The ladies are awesome! They have been really welcoming especially with my arrival occuring in the middle of their season. They are taking on the challenges I have brought and are excited about where it can go. It'll be a great season with them, I have no doubt about that!"

The cross country program begins the race on their fall campaign later this semester in September.
