Ocanas Tosses a gem, leads Wolves to victory over FVSU

Macon, GA- the Wesleyan Wolves played host to the neighboring Fort Valley State University Wildcats in a single game matinee matchup under the lights at wolves field earning their first win on the young season by a final of 8-5. Freshman pitcher Kayla Ocanas was magnificent in the circle tossing all 7 innings for the Wolves, surrendering 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits while striking out 9 Wildcats on the night. Offensively the Wolves were led by Samantha Bowen who had 3 hits on the night including a two RBI triple, 3 runs scored, and a stolen base. Sabrina Bowen finished with 2 hits including an rbi triple of her own and 3 runs scored, while sophomore Saunya Sawyers also contributed 2 hits on the evening and scored a run. Kayla Ocanas got the job done at the plate as well driving in 2 runs with a double, while Freshmen Makayla Tomlinson and Mercadie Deleon also contributed 2RBI singles on the night. 

 

The Wolves have a big weekend ahead of them looking to ride the momentum from the victory as they travel to NC to take on the Brevard Tornadoes Saturday 2/24 and the Salem Spirits on Sunday 2/25 in non conference doubleheaders.
