Wolves Battle to the Final Out in Doubleheader vs. Asbury

MACON, Ga. – It was a long day on the diamond for the Wesleyan Wolves, but one that proved again just how much heart this squad plays with. Facing off against a hard-hitting Asbury team, the Wolves never backed down, pushing through every inning with grit, hustle, and a determination that couldn't be measured by the final score.

Game One: Fight to the Finish

Wesleyan opened the first game showing their claws. A back-and-forth battle saw the Wolves match Asbury nearly hit-for-hit, racking up 12 hits to the Eagles' 13, and trading big moments throughout the eight-inning contest.

Sydnee McElveen brought the fire with a towering home run, part of her 3-hit, 2-RBI performance that kept the Wolves surging. Staesha Campbell stayed hot with 3 hits and 2 runs scored, while Haley Blankenship came up big at the plate with 3 RBIs, and added a stolen base to her stat line.

Despite trailing late, Wesleyan rallied in the 7th with a clutch two-run inning to tie it up. The dugout came alive, and the Wolves were all-in for the win. Asbury edged ahead with a run in the 8th, but the Wolves refused to go quietly, battling to the last out in a 7-6 heartbreaker.

Game Two: Grit in the Grind

Game two was a challenge from the start. Asbury came out swinging, putting up 6 runs in the first and never letting off the gas. But even down big, the Wolves found ways to battle.

Freshman Sydney Salamone stepped up in the fifth with a double that drove in a run, and Amber Searcy followed with a two-bagger of her own to plate another. Those two runs weren't just stats—they were statements. This team doesn't quit.

Makayla Tomlinson continued to be a bright spot, notching a hit in both games, and showing resilience on the mound in relief. Her 2.1 scoreless innings in Game 2 helped slow Asbury's momentum and gave Wesleyan a chance to rally.

The final was 17-2, but the Wolves never looked defeated—just hungry for more.

Looking Ahead

The stat sheet might not tell the full story, but anyone in the stands saw a team that's growing, learning, and giving everything they've got. As the Wolves continue through the conference stretch, their record might not reflect the heart they play with—but that heart is what makes this squad special.
