Wolves Show Heart and Honor Seniors in Sunday Showdown
MACON, Ga. — It was a day filled with emotion, pride, and gratitude as the Wesleyan Wolves took the field against Paine in a tough doubleheader. While the games didn't go the Wolves' way, the spirit of the pack was strong — especially as we honored two exceptional seniors: Kaitlyn Bennett and Sydney Salamone.
Kaitlyn Bennett reached a major milestone, appearing in her 99th and 100th career games for Wesleyan. Her consistency, passion, and leadership have been a cornerstone of this program, and hitting triple digits in games played is a reflection of the dedication she's poured into every practice, every play, every inning.
Beside her, Sydney Salamone continued to remind us all of her talent and drive. A standout on and off the field, Sydney brings an energy and skillset that's impossible to replace. Her presence has lifted the team in countless ways, and her leadership has left a lasting mark on her teammates and coaches alike.
Though the Wolves dropped both games (15-2 and 12-2), there were moments that showed this team's grit and potential. Wesleyan rallied early in Game 2, putting two runs on the board with timely hitting and smart base running. Sydnee McElveen powered a home run, Taylor Laviano had a multi-hit day, and Staesha Campbell, McKinley Tatum, and Katelyn McCord made solid defensive plays that kept the energy up throughout the dugout.
Haley Blankenship, Amber Searcy, and Makayla Tomlinson held things down in the circle, fighting through tough innings with determination. And throughout the lineup, players like Samantha Spisak, Kaylee Oliver, Alexus Humphries, and Tyneisha Griggs continued to show growth and fight — the kind of spirit that keeps Wesleyan pushing forward.
As the final outs were recorded, the day turned to heartfelt moments — hugs, tears, and cheers from families, coaches, and friends. This wasn't just another game; it was a celebration of what it means to wear "Wesleyan" across your chest.
To Kaitlyn and Sydney — thank you for everything. You are the heartbeat of this team, and your legacy is etched into this program forever. No matter where life takes you next, you'll always be a Wesleyan Wolf.
