Wolves Soccer Comes up Short at Piedmont

The Wolves' Soccer season came to an end this evening after a 2-1 loss to Piedmont in the first round of the USA South Conference Championships. This being only the second time in program history that the team has made the postseason. Senior goalie Carlee Dykes would finish the match with 14 saves putting her at a total of 181 saves for the season. The Lions kept pounding the goal the entire match with a total of 30 shots taken as compared to Wesleyan's 7 shots taken with only 3 of those on goal. The backline helped keep the Wolves in the game the entire match allowing the Lions to only lead by 1-0 at the half.

The second half was all defense on both sides of the field with Piedmont not taking their next goal until the 68th minute off of a penalty kick taken by Amanda Weinhart. The Wolves' only score would come in the 83rd minute off of a great assist from Christina Wiswell to Fetlework Blitch for the goal.

Coach Seth Semones is very pleased with the progress made by his team throughout the season. The Wolves will graduate only three seniors and plan to return many from this years' roster. The future continues to look very bright for Wesleyan Soccer. Congratulations on a great season!
