Panthers Top Wolves 3-2 on Opening Night

Macon, GA- The Wolves Volleyball Program opened their season in Lagrange, GA facing off with the Panthers of Lagrange College, ultimately falling to the Panthers after 5 fast and exciting sets. 

 

The Wolves played tough and resilient ball all night right from the get go, wiping out a 21-12 Panthers lead to push the first set to a final of 25-22. The Wolves rode the momentum of their first set comeback to take sets 2 and 3 by finals of 25-14 and 25-17 to take a 2 set to 1 lead over the Panthers. The Wolves jumped out to an 8-4 lead in the pivotal 4th set and fended off the charging Panthers, but were unable to lock down the win as Lagrange went on a 5 point run to close out the set winning by a final of 25-19 and sending the match to a deciding 5th set. The Panthers took a 7-0 lead to start the 5th, and the Wolves were unable to claw their way out of the early hole ultimately dropping the 5th set 15-7 and falling to 0-1 on the season. 

 

Leading the way for the Wolves were Senior hitters Zoe Redmond with 9.5 points, and Shannon Inno-Dikka with 9 points. Senior Libero Camille Duncan had a strong showing as well recording 12 digs in the opening match. 

 

The Wolves will be back on the court at Paine College at 7:00PM this Thursday September 7th to take on the Lions in another non-conference matchup. Updates for the contest will be posted on our social media platforms.
