Wolves Run Wild in Augusta, Defeat Paine Lions in straight sets

Macon, GA- The Wolves Volleyball program traveled to Augusta to square off with the Paine College Lions, defeating them in three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-17 to even their season record to 1-1. Senior Brittany Davis led the way tonight stuffing the stat book with 13 total points including 6 aces, and she added 8 digs on the defensive side of the net in a strong all around team effort. Fellow Seniors Zoe Redmond and Sharon Inno-Dikke added 7 and 5 points respectively, and Camille Duncan had another stout match defensively adding 8 more digs to her team leading 21 on the season.

The first set was tight as Paine led 7-6 before the Wolves rattled off an 11-4 run to force a Lion timeout. Paine clawed back cutting the Wolves lead to 20-18, but the Wolves finished strong with 5 straight points to win the set. Brittany Davis recorded the final 3 points all on her own with 3 aces giving the Wolves the first set and a 1-0 match lead.

Paine would take an early 6-3 lead in set 2, but a 10-1 run by the Wolves would prove enough to help them to a 25-22 victory to put them up 2-0 in the match.

The Wolves would control the third set leading from the get go with Brittany Davis contributing 7 points, including the final point via her 6th ace on the night.

The Wolves will be back in action and looking to build off this victory Saturday September 9th in a tri-match at Coastal Georgia matching up with the Coastal Georgia Mariners and the Florida College Falcons at 1:00PM and 3:00PM respectively.
