Cross Country Finishes 14th at Bobcat Invitational

The Wesleyan Wolves comepeted in the Bobcat Invitational over the weekend. This great event, hosted by Georgia College and State University is loaded with incredible talent every year from NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions as well as NAIA schools. The 6k race would be the first of the season for the Wolves. Coach Jonathan Long noted,"This was our first 6k of the season and that is the distance for our Conference Championships in November. This was a good test to show our athletes where they are in their progression and will show us what to look forward to when we go to N.C. Wesleyan in few weeks."

Wesleyan was one of the only non-scholarship programs at the meet this year and competed very well. Top runner, Chyla Brown finished 65th out of 105 runners with a time of 29:29.2. Marilynn NeSmith would be the next Wolf finishing in 88th place with a time of 33:11.8. Next would be Hannah Motes with a 95th place finish and 36:33.9 time. Coming in very closely behind her was Sarah Wise in 98th place with a finish time of 36:49.7. Finally for the Wolves, Alicia Ramirez finished in 99th place with a total time of 37:35.5.

"I am very proud of our athletes. We have a team made up of only six runners. Four of which play multiple sports. Two of those are currently in two seasons. I cannot be more happy with the effort they show on these courses. I love their wolfpack attitude", Coach Long said of his teams' finish times.

Wesleyan will continue to train and their next event witll be the USA South Conference Championship on November 2, at N.C. Wesleyan University.
